The Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA), signed into law on July 15, 2008, encompasses significant changes and opportunities for Medicare beneficiaries, particularly those who are low-income. The Act also addresses concerns with Medicare Advantage plans, including Special Needs Plans and Private Fee-for-Service Plans, and their marketing rules. SHIPs will also see an increase in their funding for Fiscal Year 2009 as a result of the Act.
