The Montana CSP project focuses on Medicare education and counseling specifically relating to Medicare Advantage. The CSP seeks to build the capacity of SHIP counselors to provide Medicare Advantage counseling services. HAP and the Montana SHIP have chosen to extend the partnership for another year to implement the multi-faceted training approach we developed over the past year.
2008-2009
The overall goal of the project was to develop and test a comprehensive approach to training that combines self-directed study with live-action training methods.
To achieve these goals, HAP worked intensively with the Montana SHIP program to implement the following strategies:
- Development of a Montana-specific Medicare Advantage Training Manual
- Statewide training for counselors in Medicare Advantage
- Implementation of online Medicare Advantage training web tool (SHIPTools)
- Creation of Medicare Advantage counseling CD
- Webinar training sessions in Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D Plan finder
2009-2010
The second year of the Montana CSP partnership will continue to build on the success of the first year of the project. The overall goal of the project is to implement a comprehensive approach to Medicare training and education that combines interactive, internet-based learning methods with face-to-face training and self-directed study.
