Troubleshooting Medicare: Help HAP Identify and Address Issues Affecting Medicare Beneficiaries

What are the persistent issues facing your clients in the Medicare program?
              ..................

To start logging and tracking issues affecting your clients, please send an email to SHIPhelp@hapnetwork.org to receive a username and password. Please include the following information in your email:

  1. Your first and last name;
  2. The name of your organization;
  3. Your state and county; and
  4. Your role (i.e. SHIP director, coordinator, counselor).

As part of HAP's project to help Medicare beneficiaries by improving the Medicare program, we have developed a web-based tool to help SHIPs track and share information on the specific issues affecting their clients. The tool, or Issue Log, will help HAP identify the persistent and systemic issues affecting Medicare beneficiaries and develop trainings and policy recommendations on how to address select issues.

The Issue Log, which is part of SHIPTools (HAP's web-based management system), is available to all SHIPs. Those who use the tool will be able to:

  • Record and share information about a particular issue affecting a client;
  • Track client issues over time;
  • Learn about issues that other counselors are seeing in the field; and
  • Access HAP resources including training materials on selected issues.

The beneficiary experiences you share are an integral part of this project and will help HAP to identify and prioritize issues affecting Medicare beneficiaries across the country. Thank you for working with us to improve the Medicare program as a whole.
