Collaborative State Projects: What's Been Happening!
HAP knows you are busy gearing up for the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP), but we want to take a few moments to share the progress of our current Collaborative State Projects (CSPs).
Since April, HAP has been partnering with SHIP programs in Colorado, Montana, Alabama, and Virginia to develop innovative programs around volunteer recruitment, volunteer management, and Medicare education and training.
- In Montana, we are working with the SHIP to improve their Medicare education and training program. The emphasis is on strengthening the research skills of counselors and promoting self-directed study using an online tool we developed.
- We are partnering with the SHIPs in Colorado and Virginia to develop comprehensive role-based volunteer programs branded as the Medicare Navigators and COMPASS teams, respectively, along with various volunteer recruitment and management resources. These tools and resources will support the two programs as they develop a uniform and sustainable volunteer program.
- In Alabama, together with the SHIP training team, we are developing a range of task-based training tools and resources for new counselors that can be utilized in local training settings.
We are excited about the progress so far, and look forward to sharing the tools and resources generated by these four partnerships in the coming months. In the meantime, keep in mind what the CSPs could do for your state! Applications for the 2010-2011 project year will be available in the spring.
We wish you a smooth Annual Enrollment Period. And if you need any assistance during this busy time, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Sincerely,
The HAP Team
