SHIP Resource Guides Newly Updated for 2010

HAP is pleased to announce that our SHIP Resource Guides are newly updated and now available on the website. The three guides—Medicare Basics, Medicare Advantage, and Medicare Part D—serve as manuals that SHIPs can use for initial and refresher training programs.

The guides also are intended as reference tools to help counselors research and answer questions from beneficiaries and others. The online versions of the guides each contain dozens of links to CMS guidance, as well as other related information resources and publications.

Updates for 2010 include the latest Original Medicare and Part D cost-sharing amounts as well as new material on Medicare Savings Program (MSP) eligibility, Special Needs Plans (SNPs), changes in the model law for Medigap insurance standardization, and the new LI NET program. We also have clarified and corrected some of the original content based on feedback from partners in the SHIP network.
