Can low-income beneficiaries switch Medicare drug plans at any time?

All low-income beneficiaries who have extra help can change plans at any time. However, because coverage is effective on the first of the month following the month in which a beneficiary applies for and is found eligible for the plan, these beneficiaries will, in reality, only be able to change plans once a month.
