 7.  What is the process for those who were eligible for and received LIS in 2006 to continue to receive the subsidy?
There are several processes for redetermination of LIS eligibility. The Social Security Administration handles redeterminations of eligibility for those Medicare beneficiaries who applied for and were granted LIS. The SSA Program Operations Manual System provides information about the following redetermination processes:

CMS handles the process by which those "deemed eligible" for LIS in 2006 will be re-deemed for 2007. This group includes those with Medicare and full Medicaid benefits as well as those in Medicare Savings Programs. A CMS letter to State Medicaid Directors describes the process for re-deeming this population.
