Please explain how enrollment into a Medicare drug plan works if a beneficiary enrolls late in the month?

It is very clearly stated in the PDP Enrollment Guidance that enrollment begins on the first of the month after the enrollment request is made. While the beneficiary likely will not receive paperwork and a membership card by the first of the following month, most enrollment requests should be effective on that day. If a plan will not honor this policy, the counselor should file a complaint through the Complain Tracking Module at 1-800-MEDICARE.
