|
Long-term care (LTC) is a type of care individuals may need as they age or become disabled, including help with bathing, dressing, eating, toileting and other activities. These services are typically available through nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and through community and home-based programs.
As a SHIP team member, beneficiaries may come to you with questions about how to receive and finance the care they need as they age. The following resources on types of long-term care, financing sources, long-term care insurance and public-private programs that combine long-term care insurance and Medicaid benefits can be used when counseling beneficiaries and training staff and volunteers.
