Creditable Coverage: Decisions and Consequences

It is very important for Medicare beneficiaries to understand the concept of creditable coverage and to know whether or not their coverage is creditable.  Certain groups of beneficiaries need to be concerned about whether or not their prescription drug coverage is creditable, including:

• Retirees with coverage through a retiree health plan
• Those who are currently working with coverage through an employer health plan
• Those with coverage through a Medigap H, I, or J policy
