Each year, HAP surveys SHIP Directors across the country to gather information on their program's priorities, as well as the needs of Medicare beneficiaries. The information that SHIP Directors share with HAP are compiled in the annual State of the SHIPs report.
The State of the SHIPs report is a tool to help HAP and other organizations better understand how they can be effective partners in serving the nation’s diverse and growing Medicare population. HAP uses the report to position and promote the value of the SHIP network with decisionmaker audiences, including Congress, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and other important stakeholders in the Medicare program and policy community.
